AWBP Trust is excited to announce the extension of our animal welfare movement to Umred, Nagpur. In April 2024, we launched our water bowl initiative in Umred with the invaluable support of our team member, Shraddha Gupta. Her active contribution to animal welfare inspired us to organize an awareness event and water bowl distribution program under her leadership.
After detailed discussions, Shraddha agreed to lead the event with our guidance. She proposed ATAL VIHAR PARK as the ideal location for the on-field event due to its diverse audience. We provided her with a permission letter to obtain the necessary approvals from the Umred Council Circle Officer, and we received permission to hold the event on June 15th, 2024, from 6 AM to 9 AM.
Before the event, we arranged all required logistics, including refreshments and bowls. Shraddha Gupta assembled a dedicated team of volunteers: Diya Unnarkar, Nikita Thakur, Ocean pandit, and Athang Anil Karode, all of whom share a passion for animal welfare. We provided the necessary training to Shraddha and the volunteers, ensuring everyone was clear about their roles.
On the day of the event, our team gathered at the park venue at 5:30 AM. We set up a stall with awareness materials and bowls. As people began visiting our stall, Shraddha Gupta and Anandh actively engaged them, explaining the importance of the water bowl initiative and the need for clean water and food for animals year-round. Nikitha collected contact details from visitors interested in receiving a bowl, while Ocean distributed bowls to eligible visitors. Diya captured the event’s moments through pictures and videos.
During the event, our team distributed 39 water bowls to individuals committed to providing clean water for animals at their homes. We interacted with over 60 people about animal welfare. Many visitors shared their ideas to further impact animal welfare in their areas, appreciated our work, and requested more frequent events.
Impact Metrics:
