In a world where education often revolves around textbooks and examinations, AWBP Trust is redefining learning by introducing compassion as a life skill. In a recent outreach, Founder Lakshman Molleti, along with team member Akarsha Alapati, visited a Mandal Parishad Primary High School, Hyderabad with a mission — to nurture empathy, responsibility, and emotional intelligence among young students through their unique initiative, PDAC (Personality Development through Animal Compassion).

A Beginning Rooted in Understanding-

The visit began with a warm and respectful interaction with the school leadership on 16th March’26. The Principal, Matam vinod, and faculty member Mahesh Kumar  welcomed the initiative with openness and curiosity. Recognizing the importance of shaping not just academically strong but emotionally aware individuals, they readily supported implementing PDAC activities within the school premises.

Before handing over the session, the Principal addressed the students, speaking about the importance of animals in human life — how they coexist with us, support ecological balance, and silently teach us compassion. His words set a thoughtful tone, preparing the students to receive the session with interest and sensitivity.

The Session: Where Learning Meets Compassion-

The AWBP Trust team conducted an engaging and interactive session for 4th and 5th class students. Unlike conventional teaching, this session was built on connection, conversation, and reflection.

Through simple storytelling, real-life examples, and interactive questioning, students were encouraged to think:

  • Why do animals depend on humans in urban environments?
  • What happens when animals don’t get water or food?
  • How can children contribute in small but meaningful ways?

The classroom quickly transformed into a space of curiosity and empathy. Students listened attentively, asked questions, and shared their own experiences.

What stood out was the existing compassion among many students. Several children proudly shared that they already feed animals outside school hours — not because they were told to, but because it made them happy. This genuine emotional connection reinforced the purpose of PDAC — to recognize and strengthen the kindness that already exists within children.

From Awareness to Action-

True learning reflects in action. Taking the initiative beyond conversation, AWBP Trust ensured that students could practice compassion daily.

Installed Initiatives:
  • Water Bowls inside the School Campus
  • Bird Nest for Conservation and Awareness
  • Distributed life lessons book copies “The Journey Of Bunty & Chinku” telugu edition.

These installations were not just symbolic — they became daily responsibility tools for students.

Children actively took ownership:

  • Filling water bowls regularly
  • Monitoring cleanliness
  • Observing birds and animals visiting the space
  • Reading the life lessons book and pass it over to other students after reading the book.

This hands-on involvement transformed students from listeners into participants and caretakers.

Building Life Skills Through Animal Compassion-

The PDAC initiative is designed with a deeper purpose — personality development through emotional engagement.

By connecting with animals, students naturally develop:

  • Empathy – Understanding the needs of others
  • Responsibility – Taking consistent action
  • Sensitivity – Becoming aware of surroundings
  • Confidence – Sharing ideas and taking initiative
  • Leadership – Inspiring peers through actions

These are not just values taught — they are values experienced.

A Ripple Effect Beyond the Classroom-

The impact of this visit goes far beyond a single day. With the support of the school management and active participation of students, the initiative has the potential to create a lasting culture of compassion within the campus.

Students who begin by filling a water bowl today may grow into individuals who:

  • Respect all forms of life
  • Contribute positively to society
  • Lead with kindness and awareness

This is how small actions create big transformations.
