In a heartwarming collaboration between BVRIT Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women and our charitable trust, a remarkable event unfolded during the college festival “MEDHANVESH 2K24,” spearheaded by the EEE department.

It all began when Mr Guru Swamy, an esteemed EEE professor, discovered our trust’s endeavors in animal welfare through social media. Inspired by our mission, he proposed the idea of hosting a stall and conducting awareness activities during the college festival. Delighted by the proposal and aligned with our organizational ethos, we gladly accepted. Mr. Guru’s advocacy even led to the principal’s (Dr.K. V. N. Sunitha) endorsement of our participation in the event.

We were fortunate to have Mr Guru Swamy connected us with a group of enthusiastic students who volunteered to assist us during the festival. With their invaluable support, we seamlessly set up our stall and engaged in various activities, including distributing water bowls and raising awareness about animal welfare.

Initially apprehensive about the reaction from students and staff, our doubts quickly dissipated as we witnessed their genuine enthusiasm and compassion towards animals. Their positive response encouraged us to intensify our efforts in spreading awareness about the importance of water and food for community animals.

During the event, we showcased our educational book focusing on community building through animal welfare and unveiled innovative tools designed to address animal-centric challenges. Visitors were captivated by our inventions and expressed interest in contributing to similar initiatives.

An interaction with the principal resulted in her acquiring a water bowl for the college’s community animals and receiving a copy of our educational book. Encouraged by her support, we pledged to submit a sustainable proposal to establish an animal welfare club at the college. Additionally, the principal recommended connecting with the NSS head for future sessions on animal welfare.

Over the course of two days, we had the privilege of engaging with numerous staff members who expressed solidarity with our cause and extended their support. As a token of appreciation, we donated copies of “The Journey of Bunty & Chinku” to the college library.

The impact of our efforts was tangible, with 90 individuals enlightened through our awareness activities, 65 water bowls distributed, 11 book copies disseminated, and four invention prototypes showcased. Ultimately, 365 community animals benefitted from access to safe water year-round.
