AWBP Trust participated in Sunday Soul Sante held at HITEX, Hyderabad, on 14th December. The objective of setting up a stall at this vibrant community event was to spread awareness about animal welfare, animal rights, and simple yet impactful actions that individuals can take to help animals in need.

The team, led by Lakshman along with dedicated volunteers, gathered at 10:00 AM to set up the stall. The space was thoughtfully arranged and decorated to reflect the trust’s values and to create an inviting environment for visitors. Once ready, the team enthusiastically engaged with people throughout the day, sharing conversations, stories, and information centered around empathy, coexistence, and responsibility toward animals.

Engaging Hearts Through Meaningful Activities

To effectively connect with a diverse audience and make animal welfare approachable and interactive, AWBP Trust conducted a range of thoughtfully designed activities at the stall:

  1. Animal Welfare & Rights Awareness
Team members actively engaged with visitors, creating awareness about animal welfare and rights. A few visitors raised concerns about pigeons causing issues, but our team addressed their questions gently and professionally, presenting the situation in a positive, realistic, and friendly manner. Every step towards making people to be leaders for animals in the community.
  2. Education Book Distribution
The trust showcased and distributed its education book The Journey of Bunty and Chinku, aimed at encouraging reading while conveying a gentle yet powerful message about caring for humans, animals and the environment around us. The book emphasizes empathy, kindness, and responsibility.
  3. Natural Colours Art Workspace
A nature-friendly art workspace was set up using natural colours, encouraging everyone to express their creativity without the use of harmful chemicals. This activity promoted sustainable practices while reinforcing the idea of living in harmony with nature and also discourage animal testing practices.
  4. Mini Art Gallery
Our mini art gallery initiative aims to spread meaningful messages through artistic expression. We have curated our own collection of artworks, each conveying a message of coexistence for all age groups. Visitors are also welcome to take these posters from us.
  5. Bird Feeder & Nest Display
Bird feeders were displayed to inspire people to provide food and water for birds and other small species. This initiative was especially highlighted as an apartment-friendly alternative for those who may not be able to place water bowls / food bowls outside their homes.
  6. Water Bowl Distribution
The primary focus of the event was the distribution of water bowls, reinforcing one of AWBP Trust’s commitment to ensuring that animals have access to clean drinking water throughout the year, around the clock. Visitors were encouraged to place these bowls in accessible locations and become active participants in this simple yet life-saving initiative.

Community Engagement and Outreach

Throughout the day, the AWBP Trust stall witnessed a steady flow of visitors from diverse age groups and backgrounds. The team actively interacted with attendees, spreading awareness about the importance of caring for community animals and explaining the trust’s initiatives in animal welfare and access to clean water.

Visitors enthusiastically participated in the natural colours painting activity, where they were encouraged to adopt chemical-free alternatives. Conversations highlighted how many synthetic colours are tested on animals, making their use a form of cruelty, and this message resonated strongly with participants.

Many visitors took home the awareness posters displayed at the stall, extending the reach of the message beyond the event. Several people also chose to donate to the cause, expressing appreciation for the trust’s efforts and impact. The book The Journey of Bunty and Chinku received a particularly positive response, with many parents taking it as a meaningful and value-driven gift for their children.

Valuable and Memorable Interactions

Several meaningful interactions during the event stood out and reinforced the impact of AWBP Trust’s work.

One such interaction was with Mr. Rahul, the founder of a startup and an advisor at T-Hub, Hyderabad. Although he initially appeared to be passing by like many other visitors, he paused, observed the stall, and was visibly impressed by the trust’s initiatives and dedication to the cause. He returned to engage in a detailed conversation with Lakshman, seeking a deeper understanding of AWBP Trust’s mission and ongoing work. Recognizing the potential for collaboration, Mr. Rahul encouraged the team to reach out to him and expressed interest in discussing ways through which T-Hub and his network could extend support to AWBP Trust.

Another noteworthy interaction was with Mr. Aman, an entrepreneur who visited the stall and collected both a water bowl and the book. He later appreciated the efforts of the trust and engaged in a detailed discussion with Lakshman about the NGO’s work. The team shared insights about the innovation developed by AWBP Trust, including the prototype designed to scale impact. Impressed by the initiative and its vision, requested the team to stay in touch for potential future assistance and collaboration.

A particularly heartening moment was the interaction with Ms. Komal, who has been following AWBP Trust’s work for a long time. She recognized the stall, connected with the team, and expressed genuine appreciation for the consistent efforts and hard work put in by the trust.

Gratitude

Finally, the event was enriched by the support and encouragement of all the visitors, parents, and children who interacted with the team, participated in activities, and contributed to the cause. Their engagement and positive feedback served as a strong affirmation of the trust’s mission and the growing community support for animal welfare.

This event proved to be a special and fulfilling experience for AWBP Trust. The dedication, coordination, and teamwork displayed by the entire team made the day both impactful and memorable. Geervani, Varsha, and Nitya, along with Lakshman, worked with strong collaboration, mutual understanding, and commitment to the cause, ensuring the smooth execution of all activities and meaningful engagement with visitors throughout the event.

The trust is sincerely grateful to the Sunday Soul Sante team for providing the stall and platform, which played a vital role in amplifying our work, spreading awareness, and encouraging community participation in animal welfare initiatives. We also extend heartfelt thanks to all the visitors who stopped by the stall, interacted with the team, participated in activities, and supported the cause. Their enthusiasm and encouragement reaffirm our belief in the power of collective compassion.
