Where Survival Meets Neglect
For our 163rd event, we set out with a new initiative close to our hearts — to visit and feed animals who survive at the city’s dump yards. We travelled to the Bachupally dump yard in Hyderabad, a place where cows, buffalos, birds, and dogs gather each day, not by choice, but out of sheer necessity.

These animals comb through mounds of waste in search of something to eat. What we witnessed was both heartbreaking and humbling: a quiet reminder that the way a community treats its most vulnerable creatures reflects its deeper values.
What We Did
Our volunteers spent the day on the ground, doing the simple yet meaningful work of caring for these animals and engaging the community around them.
We provided fresh, nutritious food to the animals — a thoughtful mix chosen for variety and health, including carrots, cucumber, watermelon, cabbage, millets, and biscuits. Alongside food, clean drinking water remains one of the greatest needs for animals in such areas. We distributed new water bowls and inspected the existing ones already placed at the site, ensuring they were clean and usable.

Equally important was our work with the people. We interacted with residents and passersby in the area, encouraging them to take small, regular steps — feeding animals and keeping water out for them. Animal advocacy is not only about the food we provide on a single day; it is about planting seeds of compassion that grow into everyday habits within a community.
The Impact We Created Together
The numbers from this event tell a story of small actions adding up to real change:
| Contribution | Details |
|---|---|
| Water Bowls Distributed | 10 |
| Food Provided | 80 Kgs (carrots, cucumber, watermelon, cabbage, millets, biscuits) |
| Cows & Buffalos Helped | 20 |
| Dogs Helped | 10 |
| Birds Helped | Many |

Behind each of these figures is a living being that went to sleep a little less hungry, and a community that was gently reminded of its shared responsibility.
A Message to Our Readers
When animals are forced to visit dump yards for survival, it is not their failure — it is a reflection of our collective responsibility. A community where animals depend on waste for food is a reminder that compassion, care, and coexistence are missing from our daily actions.

The change we wish to see in the world must begin with us. By feeding even a few animals around our homes, providing clean water, and showing kindness every day, we can help create safer, healthier, and more compassionate communities for all living beings.
Start today. Visit a nearby dump yard — big or small — once a week. Feed animals within your capacity and experience the joy of giving. Animal Seva is not just about feeding a hungry stomach; it is about nourishing your soul with compassion and becoming the change our communities need.
Gratitude
A heartfelt thank you to Venu Chinta (Telugu University Student) and Lakshman for your valuable volunteering contribution. Despite your personal commitments, you chose to dedicate your time, energy, and compassion to support animals in need by providing them with food. Your selfless act of kindness not only helped hungry animals but also set a wonderful example of empathy and social responsibility for others to follow. Every meal served is a reminder that small acts of compassion can create a meaningful impact in the lives of voiceless beings. We are truly grateful for your support and commitment to building a more caring and compassionate community.
